What is the duration of IELTS Training?

Our regular IELTS training is for one month, which can be extended up to three months without paying additional fees. This flexible time duration is to suit students who only need less help in preparing for the IELTS test and students who need more time to adapt to the test pattern and to sharpen their English language skills.
We also provide crash courses for IELTS for which the fees are separately calculated depending on the number of days required for the candidate.

What is the class timing?

Currently we run only one batch of IELTS training which starts at 10 AM and ends at 4PM. There is a lunch break at 1PM which ends at 2 PM.

Do you work on weekends?

We work only on week days and do not have batches on week ends and holidays. On special request, mock tests are conducted on weekends and holidays which is entirely the prerogative of Life Education.

Do students have to bring their own headsets for listening?

No. We provide the headsets at our state of the art listening room. Students need to treat the equipment with respect and make sure they do not damage any of them.

Which organisations recognise the ielts testing system?
IELTS is recognised by more than 6,000 organisations across the globe. These include universities, immigration departments, government agencies, professional bodies and multinational companies.
Which version is best suited for me?
Before deciding to appear for the IELTS test, it is important to read the details of the Academic and General Training tests thoroughly. Next, you must contact the organisation/institution you are applying to in order to find out the test requirements. While filling an online application form, it is important to know which test version you are appearing for.
How much does it cost?
IELTS has a set fee for its test. The Academic and General Training tests cost the same. You can get details of the fees while applying online.
What if i need to postpone or cancel my application?
If you postpone or cancel your application more than 5 weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund after deducting an administration charge. If you postpone or cancel within 5 weeks of the test date, you will be charged the full fees unless you have a valid medical reason. If you provide a medical certificate within 5 days of the test date, you will receive a refund minus the local administrative cost.
Is the ielts test completed in a single day?
The Listening, Reading and Writing portions of the test are conducted together without a break. The Speaking test may be conducted seven days before or after the test date.
Which part should I attempt first?
You must first attempt the Listening part, followed by the Reading and Writing components of the test. The Speaking test will be conducted at a earlier/later date as per the convenience of the test centre.
Does the listening tape have instructions and pauses?
Yes. At the beginning, you hear instructions and a sample question. Then you read the Section 1 questions, listen to Section 1 and answer the questions.
Is there a similar 10-minute period in the reading test?
No. The Reading test is for an hour and the candidate must complete all the answers within this time-frame.
What is the speaking test?
The Speaking test is a conversation conducted with a certified IELTS examiner. It comprises of three sections and is recorded on an audiocassette or a digital recorder.
How are the tests marked?
IELTS makes use of a 9-band scoring system to measure and report test scores. The candidate secures individual band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking tests and an Overall Band Score on a band scale ranging from one to nine.
When will I receive my test results?
You will receive your Test Report Form in the mail 13 days after the test date. Some test centres provide SMS alert service and also announce results online. Keep your Test Report Form in a secure place as you receive only one copy.
How soon can the ielts test be re-taken?
A candidate can sit for the IELTS test any number of times he wants. However, IELTS recommends extra coaching for candidates before taking the test again. Some test centres offer preparatory courses and language classes. You can also improve your skills by using the IELTS Official Practice Materials. Details are available at test centres.
What if i am delayed by circumstances beyond my control and cannot appear for the test?
In cases of unavoidable circumstances, the test centre will ask the candidate to take the test on the next available date.
Do you provide any consultation for higher education abroad or migration?

Currently we do not provide any such services but students are given details of leading consultants in the field. Students also get an opportunity to interact with fellow learners to know about the consultancies they have registered with.

Do you have any learning activities other than typical IELTS and PTE training?

Yes. We help students to prepare for job interviews as well as group discussions. We encourage our students to participate in various confidence and language development building activities such as  debates, presentations and other different types of language games. Our students have even made short documentaries as a part of their language learning classes.

Can students bring food and eat at Life Education?

Yes. Students can bring and have their food at the institute. In fact, eating together provides opportunities to socialize and bond with the staff and fellow students. We do even have cooking days , as our institute as a well- functioning kitchen and dining hall.

Do you accept credit cards?

No, we do not accept credit cards. You can make your payments in cash or by electronic transfers such as net banking, google pay or the like.

Who conducts the ielts test and prepares the test material?
The IELTS is jointly conducted by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL). The IELTS test materials are prepared by an international team of writers. Research has shown that the IELTS tests are fair and unbiased. People from different English-speaking countries develop the IELTS material to reflect different real-time situations.
Are there two versions of the test?
Yes, the IELTS test has two versions, namely, Academic and General Training. The Academic test is for those wanting to study at a tertiary level in an English-speaking country. The General Training test is for those people who want to work, enrol in training programmes and secondary schools or migrate to an English-speaking country. For all candidates, the Listening and Speaking tests are the same while the Reading and Writing tests differ.
Do disabled candidates get help?
Across countries, IELTS test centres make every effort to cater for the requirements of disabled candidates. At LIFE EDUCATION, our aim is for all candidates to be assessed solely on merit. If you are a differently-abled candidate, do contact us well in advance as we may need at least three months to make arrangements.
When can I take an ielts test?
The IELTS test is conducted on 48 fixed dates every year, i.e, four times a month, depending on demand.
What if I am absent or sick on the test day?
If you are absent on the test day without prior notice, you will lose your full fees. However, if you provide a medical certificate within 5 days of the test date, you will receive a refund minus the local administrative charges.
What can i bring into the examination room?
Only pens, pencils and erasers are allowed in the exam room. You must bring the passport/national identity card, the details of which were provided on the IELTS Application Form, to the exam room. You must leave everything else outside. Mobile phones and pagers must be switched off and placed along with personal belongings in the area designated by the supervisor. If you do not switch off your phone/pager or keep it on you, you will be automatically disqualified.
What can i bring into the examination room?

What kinds of accents can we expect in the listening and speaking tests?
As IELTS is an international test, different types of English accents are used in both the tests.
Can i make notes on the listening and reading question papers?
Yes. That is allowed as the IELTS examiner will not see your question paper.
What are the requirements for the speaking test?
The candidate must bring the same identification documents as mentioned in the IELTS Application Form and these will be used for the rest of the test. Your ID will be checked before entering the interview room.
Is there a ‘passing score’ for the ielts test?
There are no successful or failed candidates in the IELTS testing system. Scores are given on the 9-band system and each institution/organisation has its own set of IELTS scores, based on its individual requirements.
What if the test report form is lost/misplaced/destroyed?
The Test Report Forms are valid for a period of two years. Copies cannot be sent to the candidates but IELTS will forward a Test Report Form to the relevant institution/embassy. The first five copies will be sent free of charge. Additional copies will incur a small administration charge. Contact your local test centre for further details in case you lost the test form.
What if I feel my test results are wrong?
If you feel that your tests results are wrong, you can opt for the ‘enquiry on results’ procedure at your test centre within six weeks of the test date. You must pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refundable if your band score changes. Note that IELTS examiners follow strict assessment guidelines and are regularly monitored.
